piCture pOlish Blogfest 2013!

Hey Hussies!

Its that time of year gain, the exciting Blogfest by piCture pOlish!

This years is a little different from last years, the bloggers were presented with three shades and asked to do nail art and a tutorial to go with it...

Nail Art + Hussy = Freaked Out!

I was given Fairy Floss, Nude and Paradise for my nail art concoction and at first I thought what the heck am I going to do with these!?

If you read the blog regularly you'll know I don't do anything remotely arty! So I've taken the easy way out and done a simple little gradient and dotticure, I hope you like it :-)

How Too

To achieve this simple look follow this step by step guide...
  1. Paint all nails with two coats of piCture pOlish Nude
  2. Wait for them to become touch dry
  3. Once they are touch dry paint a small amount of piCture pOlish Fairy Floss onto a sponge (any sponge will do, I cut up a dish washing sponge!)
  4. Dab the painted sponge on some paper to remove excess paint
  5. Lightly dab the painted sponge 3/4 of the way down the nail towards the tip. Repeat steps 3-5 each time starting further down the nail until you have the desired gradient.
  6.  Once your nails are dry pour a small amount of piCture pOlish Paradise onto a paper plate.
  7.  Then take a cocktail stick (or a dotting tool, I don't own a dotting tool so I used a cocktail stick!) and dip it lightly into the pool of Paradise.
  8. Apply dots to your nails in any style you wish. I have varied the size of dots by adding more or less paint to my cocktail stick.
  9. Finish and seal with a coat of fast drying top coat.

I hope you enjoyed my post and my make-do tools for nail art ;-)

Go have a look at the other bloggers Blogfest mani's on the piCture pOlish Pinterest board here, I'm sure they'll have done much greater things with their designs! This year three winners will get the chance to create a collaboration shade with piCture pOlish so go place your vote on the Pintrest board to see your favorite blogger create a shade!

Iconic Effect Psychedelic Snarl and Pea Soup

Hiya Hussies!

Tonight I have a VERY EXCITING post to share with you......

A new UK indie brand! I get super excited when UK brands start up because they are so few and far between. Introducing to you Iconic Effect all the way from sunny Scotland...

Psychedelic Snarl

Psychedelic Snarl is an epic polish! Its a combination of of a blue jelly base packed to the brim with turquoise to green to pink to purple colour shifting shimmer and holographic glitter AND large holographic dot glitter. This polish has it all!

The constancy is easy to work with and doesn't need much fishing to get the large glitters out. Being a jelly base means that it can be layered over different base colours or can be built up to full opacity in about 3 coats.

The swatches here show three coats of Psychedelic Snarl followed by a coat of Gelous and one coat of HK Girl top coat.

Pea Soup

I love the name of this polish, it brings back childhood memories of having pea soup on Guy Fawkes Night around the bonfire :-)

Pea Soup  is a pretty pale green crelly base with loads of pink and green mini glitter, midi sized turquoise hex glitter and super bright pink hex glitter.

The formula is outstanding and easy to work with. The swatches here show three coat of Pea Soup followed by a coat of HK Girl top coat.

Sweetcheeks Polish Kimber and Eric

Hiya Hussies

Today I have two polishes from the talented Steph form Sweetcheeks Polish...

Kimber

Kimber is a gorgeous combination of red (holo), white and blue (holo) glitters in a clear base. Its the perfect way to show a little bit of British spirit to celebrate our gorgeous new Prince George!

The swatches here show one coat of Kimber over a mint creme base followed by a coat of Glisten and Glow HKGirl topcoat. Check out the macro the glitters are so well suspended in the base they look like they're floating on the nail!

Eric

Next up we have Eric, a browny, greeny tinted polish with a duo-shift and lots of shimmer. At first I wasn't quite sure what to do with this polish, I tried it alone and found it took too many layers to reach opacity so I decided to layer it over a black base and wow! It totally came alive!

Eric dries to a matte finish but I thought the sparkle showed best with a glossy top coat.

The swatches here show two coats of Eric over a black creme base followed by a coat of Glisten and Glow HK Girl top coat.
