Aphrodite Lacquers - Romeo & Juliette

Hey Kids!

Tonight's offering to the polish gods features two polishes by Aphrodite Lacquers, inspired by iconic lines from Romeo and Juliette.

Such Sweet Sorrows

I love pink, pretty much anything pink gets my vote! Such Sweet Sorrow is a gorgeous pink jelly polish with pink glitters in various shapes, purple circle glitters and a smattering of holographic micro glitter.

The application of this polish is easy and it glides on without having to place the glitters where you want them. However because its a jelly polish I found it needed several coats to build to opacity and even then I got a visible nail line so I decided to layer this over Bubblegum Ice a super pink neon from the new Models Own collection.

The swatches here show two coats of Such Sweet Sorrow over a base of Bubblegum Ice followed by a coat of Seche Vite.

 Two Star Crossed Lovers

Two Star Crossed Lovers is a delicate lilac milky, jelly base with lots of pink shimmer that catches the light and a range of purple and silver glitters in various shapes and sizes.

This polish was easier to build to opacity in just three coats, however it still retains the gorgeous depth of a jelly polish.

The swatches here show three coats of Two Star Crossed Lovers followed by two coats of Seche Vite.

Lumina Lacquers Chinese Lanterns

Hello chickies :-)

Tonight I have another polish from Lumina Lacquers to share with you. This is Chinese Lanterns a really fun mix of glitters including pink, black and silver holo hearts, large black circles and masses of black and hot pink glitter.

This polish was surprisingly easy to apply, normally you have to fish for larger or shaped glitter but there are no problems to report with this. I think Tatiana has loaded it with so much of everything that you always get something good with every dip of the brush!

The swatches here sow one coat (yes just one coat!) of Chinese Lanterns over a base of Barry M Blueberry Gelly Polish. I topped this off with a coat of Gelous and a couple of coats of Seche Vite to give a glossy smooth finish.

piCture pOlish Monday! Focus

Hiya Hussies!
Its Monday once again so you know what that means? piCture pOlish Monday!!
Today I have the gorgeous, luxurious Focus to share with you. This flakie raspberry beauty was created by my good friend Shelia from Pointless Cafe as one of the piCture pOlish Colaboration Shades.

I knew when I first saw this polish that I had to have it. Shelia has impeccable taste when it comes to polish and such an eye for colour that it was a no brainer for me!

Focus is a deep raspberry polish with a hint of blue/purple to lift the colour. It is packed with delicate little flakies that shimmer in the light and add incredible depth. Its a complex combination of colour and texture.

The formula was perfect, I only needed two coats to reach full opacity and it dries to a smooth finish so only a coat of Seche was added to boost the shine.

Enchanted Polish Halo

Hiya Hussies!

Tonight's blog post features Halo by Enchanted Polish.

Halo is a very special polish created to help the Ronald McDonald House Charities, a percentage of every sale of Halo goes directly to the charity.

Halo is a very pale grey/blue, with a dash of subtle lilac duo-chrome and a subtle flash of holographic rainbow. This polish is not an in your face holo, its delicate and very elegant.

The formula is light weight and needs about three coats to reach full opacity. The swatches here show three coats of Halo followed by a coat of Seche Vite

Pretty & Polished Dolli-Pop

Hi Hussies!

Tonight I have a polish that I am sooooo excited about! This is Dolli-Pop by Pretty & Polished.

I remember the days when temperature responsive nail polish was, well for want of a better word, crap! The colours were wishy washy and the colour change was nearly invisible, normally consisting of a light pink when warm to a slightly lighter pink as it got cooler.

Pretty & Polished have well and truly perfected the art of temperature responsive nail polish.

Dolli-Pop is a gorgeous royal purple polish with lots and lots of tiny bright blue glass flecks when your fingers are cold, however when your fingers warm up it transforms to a striking royal blue. If your nails have grown past your fingertips and you have a free edge the nail bed area is bright royal blue and morphs into the royal purple at the free edge of your nail, where its colder, giving you the most perfect graduated manicure look.

I have been seriously staring at my nails all day and have had so many compliments on the polish, I never want to take it off!

The formula is easy to work with, however I did find I needed three coats to get perfect coverage. Dolli-Pop dries to a slightly matte finish so I popped a couple of coats of Seche Vite over the top to give it a dazzling shine and really make the flakies stand out.

This polish is PERFECT go and buy it now....

Smitten I Feel... Wicked and Pink Goes Good With Green

Sooooo I was feeling a bit deflated from the whole Illamasqua Pink Raindrops fiasco and thought I'd cheer myself up with a bit of Smitten Polish!

Here I have I Feel...Wicked and Pink Goes Good With Green from Noelie's Wickedly Smitten Collection.

I Feel...Wicked

There's no disguising who this gorgeous, witchy green is inspired by... The Wicked Witch herself!

I Feel...Wicked is a gorgeous emerald green jelly polish stacked to the brim with green and purple glitter in lots of sizes plus some holographic green glitter thrown in for good measure. There's nothing that says a wicked witch doesn't want to look glam every now and then ;-)

The formula on this polish is perfect and reaches full opacity on three coats or you could layer it over a dark colour for a different look.

The swatches here show three coats of I Feel...Wicked, followed by one coat of Gelous and one coat of Seche Vite.

Pink Goes Good With Green!

This beautiful little polish is inspired by the moment that Galinda the good witch tries to teach Elphaba how to be popular!

Pink Goes Good With Green! is a beautiful minty green crelly base with various shapes and sizes of pink, hot fuchsia and green glitters. There's a very slight silvery shimmer in the base that just catches the light.

The formula was once again a delight to work with. The swatches here show two coats of Pink Goes Good With Green followed by a coat of Gelous and a coat of Seche Vite.

Illamasqua Pink Raindrops

Hi Hussies!

Tonight I have Pink Raindrops from Illamasqua to share with you.

Now we all know how amazing the original Raindrops is, that beautiful pale grey, squishy jelly filled with white flecks. A polish so lovely it reached cult status and resulted in Illamasqua resurrecting it from their discontinued limited edition line.

Here's a little reminder....

Illamasqua Raindrops

I, just like everyone else was jumping for joy when Illamasqua announced they were releasing a PINK version of this beauty. The second it was released my fingers were tapping away on the keyboard buying the new baby!

BUT Pink Raindrops is not what I expected it to be...

Pink Raindrops is a dusty, pink almost bordering on flesh tone with a weird pinky/mauve shimmer and a lumpy creme texture. Yes it has the delicate little flecks but that is its only redeeming feature.

Those of you that read my blog often will know that I don't ever slate a polish, I can normally find something that I like about it, even if the colour isn't for me there's normally something I can praise. I just cant say that there's anything I like about Pink Raindrops.

I feel like Illamasqua thought they could ride off the back of Original Raindrops reputation and release any old pink polish and we'd lap it up. Which is exactly what I did, I bought this because I love the original and I thought that if its even slightly as good as the first one I'm going to love it. Plus I am a die hard Illamasqua fan, not just their polishes but everything else they make.

All I can say is that its an unflattering, almost frosty looking mess and I'm so very disappointed :-(

The swatches here show two coats of Pink Raindrops followed by one coat of Seche Vite.

So there you have it. Obviously this is just my opinion and I might be the only person on the planet that thinks like this but I've given you my HONEST opinion.
