Lacquerhead Polish Baby Girl

Back at Christmas time I received several gorgeous polishes from my Secret Santa who just happened to be Alischia, the creator of Lacquerhead Polish.

One of the polishes she sent me was Baby Girl which is the cutest shade of pink crelly base with red/pink and purple hex glitter in various sizes.

The application was smooth and easy, reaching full opacity in just two coats however for these photos I wore three coats to make sure the jelly consistency came through clearly. I topped this manicure off with two coats of Seche Vite.

China Glaze DV8 and QT from the OMG Collection

Evenin' all. This morning I had some fantastic news from my lovely friend Cheeying in Singapore, she has located and is sending me the entire collection of the new China Glaze holos. Squeeeeeeeeee!!

I thought now was the perfect time to break out some oldies but goodies to celebrate, so tonight I have DV8 and QT from the OMG collection that was release in the spring of 2008 (yes that long ago!).

A few months ago another good friend of mine Sisi from Color 4 Nails said that she could get her hands on some of the OMG polishes and I knew that I had to have these two beauties to add to my collection.

DV8

DV8 is the most perfect shade of teal I have ever seen. It glows with holographic rainbows and the finish is utterly smooth. The application was quick and easy, needing only two coats for full coverage and it dried super fast.

Here it is shown at two coats of DV8 and no top coat. All of these photos were taken in natural day light with no artificial light source.

QT

OT is a hot toned raspberry pink. Its not quite as holo as DV8 but its still really beautiful. The formula is the same as DV8, smooth and easy to apply.

The swatches here show two coats of QT with no top coat. Sadly the light had started to dwindle when I took these photos so I used the flash to show the holo.

Unfortunately the OMG collection is now very hard to find and if you do find them they tend to be quite a high price :-(

Hopefully the new China Glaze holo collection will be close to these. From the swatches I've seen they're not as holo but they have the same smooth finish. As soon as I get them you'll be the first to know.

Jindie Nails Candy Land Remix and Barney Blew Up

Tonight I have two new Jindie polishes to show you.

Candy Land Remix

Candy Land Remix is the sister polish to Candy Land. It still has a white crelly base with medium and large neon semi-translucent hex glitter with the addition of micro neon glitter :-)

I prefer Candy Land Remix to the original, its got more going on. Even my grandma commented on how much she liked this when I wore it the other day and this is a lady that only wears pale pink frosts and pearls.

The formula is easy to work with, I found the original Candy Land a little temperamental but this glides on like a dream. The glitter was easy to load on the brush and it dried fairly flat to the nail. The swatches here show three coats of Candy Land Remix, followed by one coat of Gelous and one coat of Seche Vite.

Barney Blew Up

Oh how I've longed for the times for Barney to REALLY blow up! Being a mommy you kinda get sick of that happy, purple dinosaur lol.

The polish is a pink leaning purple crelly base with a slight shimmer and purple, white and green glitters splattered throughout. There's even white hearts in the messy mix of Barney's guts!

This is a really fun polish, but not one of my favourite Jindie's, the colours just didn't suit my skin tone and I found the over all look a little clunky sadly.

As for the formula it was easy to work with, the glitters loaded on the brush easily. The only tricky thing was fishing for hearts, but I think they are meant as more of an accent than an integral part of the polish, after all Barney does only have one heart per manicure ;-)

The swatches here show three coats of Barney Blew Up followed by a coat of Gelous and a coat of Seche Vite.

Aphrodite Lacquers Never Too Old

Tonight I have the dark and mysterious Never Too Old from the Aphrodite Winter Collection 2012 to share with you.

Never Too Old is a deep, dark black polish. Its not quite a jelly but its not a creme either so we'll go with crelly. This polish is the Jekyll and Hyde of the polish world, on one hand its a dark polish with silver shimmer and a satin finish, however pop a top coat on and all sorts of magic happens! It pops with luminous purple and silver shimmer which you cant really see without a top coat. In full light its simply mind blowing!

The crelly formula wasn't opaque enough for me to carry this polish off without a base colour so I popped on a coat of Cult Nails Nevermore to increase the opacity.

The swatches here show two coats of Never Too Old over a base of Cult Nails Nevermore, shown first without any top coat and then with two coats of Seche Vite.

Jindie Nails Electric Grape

Tonight's blog post features one of Jindie Nails new polishes, Electric Grape.

This is a hot purple jelly with masses of bright, electric blue shimmer. This is one seriously gorgeous polish and a MUST have for any purple lovers out there. The blue shimmer shows in any light but it literally glows in bright light, this is not a hidden shimmer this bad boy loves to dance!

I'm a little bit funny about having any visible nail line so I layered Electric Grape over a base of Illamasqua Prosperity. You can reach full opacity in about 3-4 coats but I could still see my nail line, it depends on how anal you are really.

This polish easily slides in to my number one spot so far for the year (yes I know its only January!)

The swatches here show two coats of Electric Grape over a base of Illamasqua Prosperity, followed by one coat of Seche Vite.

Glimmer By Erica Snow Day and Winter Wonderland

Hiya Hussies!

Its still snowy here in the UK so I thought it would be appropriate to do a couple of frosty manicures :-)

Tonight I have two polishes from Glimmer By Erica's Winter Collection 2012.

Winter Wonderland

Winter wonderland is a clear base polish with periwinkle blue satin hexes, medium and small pale blue metallic hexes, bright shining silver holographic mini glitter and square iridescent glitter. Its such a pretty icy combination.

Here I layered one coat of Winter Wonderland over a base of A England Iseult and top coated with Seche Vite. The periwinkle blue glitters look like they are curved but that's simply a trick of the light.

Glimmer By Erica Winter Wonderland

Snow Day

Snow Day is a mixture of white, silver holographic, iridescent micro glitter and hex glitter and silver hex glitter in a clear base. The iridescent glitters flash lots of pretty colours over the pastel base I chose and I imagine the flashes would be much more prominent if I had used a darker base colour.

For these swatches I layered one coat of Snow Day over a base of Illamasqua Caress followed by two coats of Seche Vite.

Fever Lacquer I Blame The Fireworks

Tonight I have my very first Fever Lacquer made by the lovely Casandra to show you. Now I know that bar glitter (aka hairy glitter) isn't for everyone but this holographic, hairy glitter explosion really floated my boat!

This polish is a clear base packed, and I mean packed full of holographic bar glitter. When I first got this polish in the mail all I could say was wow! It immediately found its way onto my toes where it has been for 2.5 weeks and there is NO sign of wear or chipping. I decided not to use any base colour because I didn't want to detract from the blast of holo, in real life this looks like my nails are made of pure crystal.

For these swatches I used three coats of I Blame The Fireworks followed by a coat of Gelous and two coats of Seche Vite. The holo effect made my camera freak out, so I apologise in advance for the quality of the photos. These were taken on a cloudy day with no artificial light source.
