365 Days Of Color Rock Candy

Today I have Rock Candy by 365 Days Of Color for you. This is my first experience with shard glitter and at first I was a little wary about how it would apply and if it would lay flat on the nail but I needn't have worried. The glitter is more like shards of foil so they are very thin and do lay fairly flat on the nail, and any stragglers can be easily fixed with a thick top coat.

Rock Candy is multicoloured shards in a clear base. The shards are quite sparse in this polish but they build up nicely in a couple of coats. Here I layered Rock Candy over Deborah Lippmann's Let's Hear It For The Boy and topped it off with one coat of Gelous and a coat of Seche Vite.

Nails Inc Princess Arcade

A few weeks ago I saw a stunning manicure by the incredibly talented Let Them Have Polish, featuring Nails Inc Princess Arcade and I just knew I'd have to try it out for myself (the original post can be found here). So here is my rendition of that manicure.

Princess Arcade is one of the Nail Jewellery Range by Nails Inc, it has multiple sized hot pink, magenta and peach glitters, some of which are holographic, suspended in a clear base. The glitter is so densely packed that you could reach full opacity in about two coats.

For this manicure I used a base of Cult Nails Nevermore and then layered Princess Arcade over the top to achieve a graduated look. I topped it all off with one coat of Gelous and two coats of Seche Vite.

I'm totally in love with this mani and I'm so glad I have Princess Arcade, I need the other Nail Jewellery polishes now!

piCture pOlish Blog Fest 2012 - Demeter and Attitude

Hey Hussies! I have been waiting for today for nearly a month now and I've been utterly bursting to share this with you! I applied to be one of the bloggers to take part in piCture pOlish Blog Fest 2012 and I got picked, I am sooooooo happy!

The two beauties I get to unveil to you are from the Collaboration Collection. Demeter was dreamt up by Katie from Harlow & Co and Attitude that has come from the mind of Kim from Overall Beauty.

Demeter is the goddess of the harvest, she watches over the fertility of the earth. This polish encapsulates the name perfectly. Its a decadent chocolate brown polish with scattered holographic particles. The holographic particles look like micro flake shards, they are irregular in shape and catch the light beautifully. This is a completely unique polish, lets be honest have you ever seen a brown holographic polish before?

The formula is rich, highly pigmented and glides on like a dream. The swatches here show three coats of Demeter (I wanted to fully capture the depth of this polish but you would really only need two coats) followed by two coats of Seche Vite.

The motto over at Overall Beauty is "where beauty has a little attitude!" and this is exactly what Kim has created, Attitude in a bottle! This polish is a dark, sexy purple filled with holographic particles. The particles in this polish have the same texture as the ones in Demeter but the holographic effect in Attitude is a little stronger. This polish is another unique polish, a lot of purple holos sacrifice their pigment for the holographic effect but this polish has just the right balance of both.

Once again the polish was lovely and glided on like butter. These swatches show three coats of Attitude followed by two coats of Seche Vite.

So there you have two of the new piCture pOlish Collaborations Collection. I think you'll agree that these two shades are simply stunning!

All of the Collaboration Collection can be purchased on the piCture pOlish website here. Demeter is exclusive Harlow & Co and can only be purchased there and on the piCture pOlish site. Attutude is exclusive to Overall Beauty and can only be purchased there and on the piCture pOlish site.

Layla Holographic Effect Ultra Violet and Heart Stamping

Sorry for not posting yesterday but I was consumed with the Olympics opening ceremony last night. It made me very proud to be British :-)

To make up for it I have a bit of a double post for you. This is Layla Ultra Violet, a simply stunning linear holographic lilac polish. I'm not going to lie and say that the formula on the Layla Holographics is easy to work with because its not, frankly it's a pain in the arse, BUT the holo is so worth the work!

The holographic effect in the Layla polishes is the best I have seen, they show every colour of the rainbow.

The swatches here show three (very delicately applied) coats of Ultra Violet with no top coat and no base coat.

Layla Holographic Effect Ultra Violet

Pretty rainbow...

I then decided to try a bit of stamping over the top and what cuter stamp to go with this than hearts?! I used Klean Color Metallic Fuschia to stamp with.

I hope this makes up for me being M.I.A yesterday!

Layla polishes are available at Harlow & Co and Simply Occasions (for the UK girls!). Layla also have a Facebook page as do Harlow & Co so go and check them out!

Nails Inc Pudding Lane

Ive once again been reading the comments section on the giveaway page and another request that keeps popping up is to feature some UK brands, I have to admit that even though I'm from the UK I'm a bit of a bugger for indies and non UK brand on the blog. So tonight I have Nails Inc Pudding Lane.

Pudding lane is a bright teal/blue crelly (creme-jelly) based polish packed with navy and gold glitter. This polish is like a jelly sandwich without the hassle, the crelly base lets the glitter show through but it also gives the glitters a muted, high fashion matte appearance too.

Its great to finally see mainstream companies really listening to what the consumer wants and getting in on the indie looks that we obviously crave.

The formula is as expected from Nails Inc with full coverage in just two coats. It did dry a little lumpy but nothing that couldn't be solved with a couple of coats of Gelous and a coat of Seche Vite.

Nails Inc polishes are available at NailsInc.com, ASOS (who currently have some Nails Inc in their sale!) and QVC UK. There is also a Nails Inc Facebook page.

Nail-Venturous Granite

Recently I was a VERY lucky girl and managed to arrange an amazing swap with Amy from Im Feeling Nail-Venturous and she sent me my biggest lemmings! I was so sad when Amy announced that she would no longer be selling her wonderful creations and I had all but given up on many of my number one lemmings so this swap was a total dream come true.

The first polish I grabbed was Granite. This polish is sublime, complex and a really clever concoction. It really dos look like granite, Amy is a genius when it comes to combining glitter and pigments. Granite has a stone colour base and is speckled with tiny black and copper glitter and white and copper medium sized hex glitter. This polish wears like...well granite, I wore it for four days (yes four, I know its unheard of for me to wear a polish for so long!) and there was no wear what so ever.

Here I applied three coats of Granite followed by one coat of Gelous and two Coats of Seche Vite.

Nail-Venturous Granite

Thank you so much Amy, I couldn't be more thrilled :-)

Go check out Amy's blog at I'm Feeling Nail-Venturous and like her Facebook page. Amy has brilliant swatches and layering combos/jelly sandwiches :-)

Enchanted Polish Razzmanian Devil

Today we had sun in the UK so I thought it would be the perfect time to break out a holo I've been itching to wear.

I defy anyone to not like today's polish because it is A-MAZ-ING!! This is Enchanted Polish Razzmanian Devil, a wildly holographic purple polish with magenta metallic flecks. This is seriously gorgeous.

The wear on this polish is like iron as with all of Chelsea's polishes, this took a beating in the garden plus an extended grooming/fighting session with the dog and there's not a chip, peel or wear in sight.

The swatches here show two coats of Razzmanian Devil followed by two coats of Seche Vite.

Here you can see the magenta flecks that sparkle even without bright lights

Add some sunlight to the equation and BAM!

Bottle shot...Oh holo goodness...wipes drool from chin ;-)

So was i right or was i right? This polish is impossible to dislike!

Enchanted Polish are available at Llarowe and Harlow & Co and they also have their own Facebook page.

Deborah Lippmann Lets Hear It For The Boy

Today I had some epic nail mail land on my doorstep! Sooooo many pretties from my lovely friend Donna including the Deborah Lippmann Footloose Collection. My plan for this post was to do a Footloose Collection spam-athon but I started with Let's Hear It For The Boy and I just loved it so much I couldn't bare to take it off to swatch the others in the collection.

Let's Hear It For The Boy is a pale blue with almost lavender tones to it. The formula is perfect, if you're careful you can get away with one coat but I used two coats for the swatches here. I topped it off with a coat of Cult Nails Wicked Fast.

Please excuse the nubbins for nails! I sometimes feel the need for a cut down and start again :-)

Deborah Lippmann polishes are available at LippmannCollection.com and for the UK girls from House Of Fraiser and Beauty Bay. There is also the Deborah Lippmann Facebook page, where there are updates on new colours and regular giveaways.

Sinful Colors Nail Junkie

So Ive been reading the comments section on the giveaway page and another thing you Hussies want to see is more affordable polishes.

In response to that I have Sinful Colors Nail Junkie to show you. Firstly this polish has such a funky name I love it! Nail Junkie is a turquoise jelly packed full of holographic, green and silver glitter. It looks almost otherworldly, its seriously beautiful.

Here I layered it over Cult Nails Nevermore (my go to black) and it looks like a galaxy on my nails, the black really highlights the colours in the glitters. The glitter is very dense so if you wanted to wear it without layering over a base colour you can reach full opacity in about three coats. The formula is perfect.

The swatches show Nail Junkie over Nevermore followed by a coat of Gelous and one coat of Seche Vite.
